Salmon Heli-Rappellers

Salmon Air Base

Located in the southeast corner of Lemhi County Airport on the outskirts of Salmon, Idaho, the Salmon Air Base is the operational home of the Salmon Heli-Rappellers, and the premier rappel base in the National Rappel Program. This facility serves as a hub for national rappel readiness training and all-hazard incident response, providing access to specialized rappelling equipment and helicopters equipped for a wide variety of missions. The base facilitates ongoing training in rappelling techniques, fire behavior analysis & suppression, and emergency procedures, ensuring rappellers remain prepared for rapid deployment into some of the most inaccessible and rugged terrain in the country.

If you're considering applying or would like to schedule a tour of the base, please contact us.
